Cynthia Mann, MN, MHA, Counselling Intern

I am in the final year of my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Before pursuing counselling, I spent over twenty years working as a Registered Nurse, supporting individuals and families through experiences such as infertility, pregnancy, pregnancy loss, birth, and the transition to parenthood. Through this work, as well as my own experiences as a parent, partner, and member of my community, I’ve seen how isolating life transitions can be, and how meaningful it is to have compassionate, knowledgeable, and non-judgmental support.

I’ve also been deeply influenced by my work with health professionals, particularly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. These experiences strengthened my interest in emotional wellbeing, burnout, and the unique needs of those working in caregiving professions.

My Approach
My approach is client-centred, trauma-informed, and grounded in authenticity. I work from a non-pathologizing, strengths-based, and relational lens, and I strive to meet clients with warmth, curiosity, and genuine care. As a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, I understand the importance of feeling safe, affirmed, and accepted within the therapeutic relationship. I believe in moving at your pace, collaborating to determine what feels right for you, and supporting you as you work toward the goals that matter most.

I work with adults (19+) and couples. My areas of interest include:

• Stress, overwhelm, and burnout

• Life transitions
• Grief and loss
• Perinatal and reproductive mental health

Fees & Supervision
As a counselling intern, I am supervised by Melyssa Wood. This supervisory relationship provides added support to the work we do together and allows me to offer sessions at a reduced rate, making therapy more accessible while maintaining high-quality care.
